FretPet FAQ
I can't edit a sequence while it's playing. Why not?
If during playback the Eye Button is on the bank interface is
disabled. You can click on the Hear Button to temporarily hold the
progression on the Current Chord. You can make changes and when you
click the Hear Button again the progression will continue.
I'm confused about the Stop / Go gadget. What's the point?
The point is mainly cosmetic, but it also gives you an aid to get a
grasp on the way notes relate to scales. Sometimes it's better to
think of notes as static objects and scales as the part which moves.
Sometimes scales have strong fixity and other times they lose their
hold over melody. This gadget lets you play with these two approaches
to keys.
FretPet says it requires QuickTime‚Ñ¢ 2.x. Where do I get it?
QuickTime is included as a part of your system installer package. If
you have a system CD you can install QuickTime from there. Updated
versions of QuickTime are posted periodically on Apple's web site at
<http://www.quicktime.apple.com>
Why does my system crash if I Force Quit?
FretPet installs a "Vertical Blank Interrupt" to allow music to play
in the background while you perform other operations. FretPet must
remove this interrupt when it quits, otherwise the system will keep
trying to call it.
If you force FretPet to quit with command-option-escape the system
will bomb as soon as the interrupt's memory gets overwritten, which
can happen at any time.
If the program crashes but tells you "FretPet has crashed" this means
it was able to catch a fatal error and remove its interrupt. As a
general rule you should restart your computer any time an application
crashes.
